Summary of Gradebook for NitWits 1.01m
Gradebook for NitWits is a database (Filemaker Pro 10) that runs under Windows XP / Vista / 7 or MAC OS X and requires Filemaker Pro 10 or higher to run this application. It stores student information for multiple academic years.
The gradebook can be used by one teacher working in schools with 1, 2, 3 or 4 terms with definable date ranges. The teacher can grade tasks in 4 user-defined categories and 2 pre-defined rubric-based categories (Participation and Behaviour) for Term Work the 6 categories are weighted. Examinations scores can be weighted under 4 user-defined categories (e.g., Knowledge, Logic, Communication and Application).
The Gradebook Demo can be accessed using the following: User Account = Admin and PW = letmein. It is recommended you change the default PW after logging in.
Term Work and Term Examinations (up to 4 each) are weighted separately to arrive at the student’s Year-to-Date average. All weighting is defined at the course level for flexibility of weighting between different courses.
The user can create class seating plans (3 seating options: 6 x 6, 5 x 5 and 4 x 5) with photos, and track attendance directly from the seating plan or in a separate table. The Term Work and Exam grades are rolled-over to a summary table (the rolled-over grades may be edited).
There are several grading reports that can be printed or saved as PDF files with the ability to email parents the PDF reports (there is the ability to use a student alias for privacy on posted reports). The entry of raw scores is fast and very intuitive (like a spreadsheet). Course tasks are stored for selective sharing (active/inactive setting) across several classes with the same Course ID. The demo version has a limit of 5 students this limit is lifted when the software is registered for use on a single computer. The registered version includes free tech support via email for 1 year.
